The Role of Counselors

An Ignite counselor is many things. Often, they are described as your classic camp counselors — hype, some of them perhaps a little too loud, but overall passionate. At their core, Ignite counselors love Jesus and they want to make His name known to campers! These student volunteers make up the majority of Ignite staff and are the primary source of contact to the freshmen and transfer class.

Throughout the Spring semester, all of staff gathers weekly to build unity among your “camp” of fellow counselors, co-chairs, and prayer team leaders. During this time, you have the opportunity to learn about what it will look like to lead a small group of campers at retreat in August. Following retreat, counselors stay connected with their freshmen and give them support and guidance as they transition into college.

Our desire is for Ignite to be filled with leaders who love Jesus, want to serve incoming students, and will ultimately point them towards the body of Christ in Austin!
